2025: The Transition is Dead, Long Live the Transition (full session 1hr 12m)
The US is leading a rapid dismantling of the regulatory and subsidy support for a more efficient and sustainable economy and governments and corporations alike are stepping back from decarbonisation commitments. Net zero 2050 and a planet capped at 1.5 degrees warming are futile ambitions, and investment markets point to the death of the transition now deemed a scam. However, more realistic ambitions don’t spell the end of the transition and with increasing concentration in equity portfolios to a small cohort of mega-cap US stocks the importance of achieving diversification without compromising return potential is higher than ever.
In this seminar, we consider recent developments in key technologies and global policy and provide a pragmatic perspective on the outlook for the transition and the ongoing relevance of transition aligned investment, with examples of how these changes are creating compelling investment opportunities today.
